As a guide to officers supervising blasting on roadworks and for other employees using and handling explosives, the precautions necessary to ensure safety in the use, transport and storage of explosives are described, and guidance given on blasting methods, the design of blasts and the selection of explosives. Other aspects include descriptions of the types of explosives and equipment used in roadworks, planning and management of blasting operations, selection of drilling equipment and instructions for the use of explosives in special applications.
