PAVEMENT MATERIALS; PART 4 - AGGREGATES

This publication is one of five booklets, each of which summarises one aspect of Australian practice in selection and testing of gravels and soils for pavement construction. Part 4 is intended to serve as a guide to those who may be required to prepare specifications, and others involved in the production and use of aggregates for pavement construction. It discusses, in general terms only, the common methods of production. The properties considered important in evaluating the potential performance of aggregates for the following three main uses are identified and discussed in detail:- bituminous seals, asphalt and rigid pavement (i.e., hydrated cement concrete). The tests available to assess the properties are listed and their relevance is explained and typical specification limits for test values are given. The ISBN of the five volume set is 0-85588-093-7.
