DELAMINATION REBONDING PRIOR TO CATHODIC PROTECTION
A research project was undertaken to develop a rebonding material for delaminated bridge decks prior to cathodic protection application. A literature survey revealed that development work along these lines has not been attempted in the past. Therefore all the efforts in this study was devoted to the experimental development of a material that would be compatible with concrete. The approach taken in this study was to start with a material with good bonding properties and has a porous structure which wouuld allow the passage of water vapour and other ionic species. The developed material performed well during the initial period of testing, but after the first three weeks it gradually deteriorated. Prolonged passage of current increased the resistivity twenty eight times in the rebonding material. (FHWA)
