HOW MUCH TOUGHER SHOULD NEW YORK STATE'S ANTI-DRUNK DRIVING LAWS BE?
This report of the Commission on Critical Transportation Choices is an interim report, with the intent of providing an overview of the problems related to alcohol and drug impaired driving. Included within the text is a review of the statistics involved, as well as a synopsis of New York's legislative approach over a period of thirty years. The Commission also has presented a selective review of other states' anti-drunk driving laws and a summary of the aforementioned autumn of 1983 hearings. The remaining chapters evaluate the effectiveness of anti-DWI campaigns in the United States and selected foreign nations, and enumerate recommendations for an even more effective attack by New York State on the DWI problem.
