A NOVEL TRIAXIAL PRESS - STUDY OF ANCHORED JOINTED MODELS

NOUVELLE PRESSE TRIAXIALE - ETUDE DE MODELES DISCONTINUS BOULONNES

The experimental study of jointed rocks gave rise to the construction of a servo-controlled triaxial press with particular characteristics: size of samples 30 cm x 60 cm, rigidity 1.5 gn/ M, maximum axial thrust 3.5 mn, lateral pressure 5 mn/M squared. The lower platen of the press is free to move in the horizontal plane, eccentricites of the axial thrust being measured by load cells arranged in a triangle. A first series of tests dealt with concrete samples crossed by an inclined joint and bolted together by two steel bars. The influence of the angle between bolts and joint on the behaviour of the test samples is presented and discussed. The number of covering abstract of the congress is TRIS no. 385148. (TRRL)
