STRAIN AND FATIGUE BEHAVIOUR OF ROCK

LA DEFORMATION ET LA FATIGUE CYCLIQUE DES ROCHES

The cyclic fatigue phenomenon in granite and marble has been investigated by cyclic loading in uniaxial compression. General evolution of damages and strains can be observed by means of a three phases cyclic creep and by the evolution of hysteresis loops' geometry. It is concluded that the development of fatigue failure in rocks is closely related to their petrographical, physical and mechanical properties.
