IN-SITU DEFORMABILITY VS WEATHERING OF A GRANITE ROCK IN BARCELONA (SPAIN)

Within the work of geotechnical investigation for the design of a new line of the Barcelona subway, a test shaft 17 M deep was excavated through a weathering profile of the granitic rock which is the substratum of the soil succession. As it was desired to assess the rock deformability as a function of its degree of weathering, several plate bearing tests were carried out at different depths. The total number of tests carried out consisted of 16 load plates in the horizontal and 5 in the vertical direction. The testing techniques are described, displaying the values of the deformation modulus versus the rock weathering and the direction of load application. The number of covering abstract of the congress is TRIS no. 385148. (TRRL)
