RADIOFREQUENCY INTERFERENCE/ELECTROMAGNETIC INTERFERENCE MEASUREMENTS: NEW YORK AIR ROUTE TRAFFIC CONTROL CENTER

The report describes electromagnetic interference tests at the New York Air Route Traffic Control Center (ARTCC), Islip, Long Island, New York. The tests included measurement of radiated and conducted emission from both the automated system and non-automated equipments, and radiated and conducted susceptibility of the automated system. Conducted and radiated electric and magnetic field emission from most of the automated system equipments exceeded the limits of MIL-STD-461A, but was not sufficiently high to adversely affect other equipment certified to MIL-STD-461A. Most of the automated system equipments met the susceptibility limits of MIL-STD-461A. Exceptions were the Plan View Display and Input/Output Control Element. (Modified author abstract)
