STRESSES AND DISPLACEMENTS IN NONLINEAR NONHOMOGENEOUS SOIL MEDIA
The behaviour of a soil medium usually departs from the assumed idealised behaviour - such as linear, homogeneous, isotropic elastic medium - while making computations for stresses and displacements. Simple expressions which take into account some of the departures from idealised behaviour have been developed based on the work of Hruban. The paper presents the solutions for stresses and displacements in non-linear and non-homogeneous soil medium for cases of circular and rectangular loaded areas with uniform and parabolic loading.
