PREDICTION OF LOAD BEARING CAPACITY OF BORED PILE DURING ITS CONSTRUCTION
A study is presented of work carried out on the penetration resistance offered by soil to a direct mud circulation (dmc) chisel during boring for a pile through stratified deposits consisting of soil layers having different characteristics. An empirical index called chisel constant has been introduced. An expression for assessing the load carrying of a bored pile using the chisel constant and rate of penetration of the dmc chisel is suggested. (TRRL)
