GM'S GREAT LEAP FORWARD?
General Motors has initiated a project called Saturn to prove it can build small cars in the US that can match the Japanese in cost and quality and with better safety and handling. The Saturn project fully integrates design, engineering, manufacturing, assembly, material handling and human relations from the very outset. The car itself will be a FWD Chevrolet subcompact smaller than the Cavalier, but with nearly the same interior dimensions. The main elements of the Saturn project are highlighted.
