A STUDY ON THE COMPOSITIONAL ASPECTS OF WATER-BOUND MACADAM
Presented in this paper is a study on the compositional aspects of water-bound macadam. This was undertaken to have a rational basis for the understanding and improvement of existing specifications. A special set of equipment and procedure was devised for the preparation, transfer and evaluation of specimens in triaxial shear. The aspects studied include: use of screenings, non-plastic fillers, plastic fillers, blended fillers, dry and wet specimen preparation and dry and wet strengths, drained and undrained strengths, etc. The findings and further work proposed are indicated.
