THERMAL RESPONSE OF STEEL MEMBERS UNDER FIRE TEST CONDITIONS
The calculation of the thermal response of an unprotected or protected steel member in a standard fire test is discussed. Analytical methods are reviewed and a regression model is proposed and demonstrated. It is shown that the conventional definition of exposed surface area to mass ratio causes increased scatter in calculated physical properties and in the regression analysis. An alternative definition is proposed. (Author/TRRL)
