This paper describes two types of plastics formulation, one used for metal surface coating, the other for adhesive bonding in underwater applications. There are two basic types of underwater coatings that have been investigated. The first type investigated was the high viscosity, epoxy-polyamide material commonly called "splash-zone compound." Later investigations concerned lower viscosity materials of brushable consistency. Each of these types is discussed separately. Results of experiments aimed at the development of rapidly curing adhesives that could be applied under seawater for construction and repair are tabulated and evaluated. Formulations for "underwater adhesive" with optimal properties are included in this report.
