MAINTENANCE PAINTING OF STEEL BRIDGES IN NORTHERN IRELAND
The first part of the paper relates the steps taken in the preparation of a contract for the maintenance painting of Craigavon Bridge, Londonderry. The specification and paint systems used are described and the techniques available for the cleaning or removing of old paint and the application of a new system are detailed. Safety precautions and means of access to the structure are also dealt with. The second part of the paper lists the salient features of various maintenance painting contracts carried out on the bridges in the city of Belfast. (Author/TRRL)
