COMPUTERIZED SYSTEM MEASURES, INTERPRETS BRIDGE STRUCTURE MOTION
The article discusses a new bridge motion measuring system that monitors and analyzes movement, rotation, sway and vibration of bridge structures. The system was developed by Selcom (Selective Electronic, Inc., Valdese, NC). It incorporates the company's Selspot II camera for motion analysis plus associated hardware and a sophisticated software system. The result permits non-contact three-dimensional measurement of bridge structure movement at a rate of 50 readings per second.
