DIGITAL ELECTRONICS DRIVE SPEEDOMETER
An electronic implementation of an automotive speedometer has been developed which maintains use of a conventional analog pointer needle but incorporates the advantages of electronics into the system. The speedometer is mechanized using an air-core gage movement driven by digital electronics. The odometer is a conventional wheel-type display modified for stepper-motor drive.
