NEW ENGINE BRAKE DEVELOPED FOR CUMMINS L10 DIESEL

A new compression engine brake has been developed for the Cummins L10 engine. The most feasible design was chosen via computer simulation and proved by testing and field experience. This new concept uses but one exhaust valve per cylinder with a valve reset mechanism. For a class 8 heavy duty truck, substantially more than rated engine power can be delivered to retard the drive wheels.
