OUTSIDE DIVISION TWO
There is a zone around some Division 2 areas where it is advisable to use some precautions and not place open fires, etc. The Division 2 boundary should extend as far as the lower flammable limit has any reasonable chance of reaching. But the magnitude of the unlikely spill and the effect of the wind cannot always be predicted. There has been more than one substantial loss because of a vapor release that traveled beyond the Division limits, ignited, and flashed back to the source. Some industry practices to protect life and property in and beyond boundary areas are presented.
