PORTLANDVLIEGASCEMENT VERSUS PORTLANDCEMENT
The use of portland fly-ash cement implies a more considered use of raw materials. As a consequence, the extraction rate of limestone decreases. At the same time fly-ash obtained from dust-fired power stations is made use of in considerable quantities. Where portland cement is replaced by portland fly-ash cement (with a weight percentage of 25% fly-ash) this latter well satisfies the technological properties demanded of concrete. Taking an identical grading and workability, concrete containing portland fly-ash cement has higher strength and less water separation. Taking an identical water-cement ratio the strength of this type of concrete is lower by little, and water separation higher, whereas slump is noticeably larger. (Author/TRRL)
