SLOTTED NOZZLES

Results of open-water tests with a series of slotted nozzles having different chord-diameter ratios show that leading-edge slots can significantly widen the useful operating range of shrouded propellers, particularly in the region where efficiency at low thrust loadings (relatively high free-running speeds) is important.
