PAVEMENT ANALYSIS AND DESIGN BY BENKELMAN BEAM
As part of a pavement management system, supplementing the visual assessment of pavements, deflections by Benkelman beam have been utilised for both the design of rehabilitation methods and their effectiveness. Selected test sections of a small number of streets are being monitored so that basic design information adopted from various authorities can be "fine tuned" for Brisbane conditions. The monitoring of the test sections has now been in operation for some four years. The statistics of the deflections, temperature and environmental conditions have been analysed with the aid of the SPSS multi-regression computer program. From the results a proposal for the design of overlays for Brisbane streets has been derived. (Author/TRRL)
