PLANNING FOR TRAFFIC AND SAFETY--SOME RECENT FINDINGS
The scope and some of the findings of recent Australian Road Research Board traffic work in three areas of interest to local government is summarised: town planning and road safety, local area traffic management and traffic generation. Comments are made about the potential to improve practice in each area by improving the information available to practitioners. Although the need for more research is stressed, some observations can be made about improvements to practice on the basis of what is known already. Increased emphasis on more detailed questions is foreshadowed. (TRRL)
