A study is presented of the possibilities of saving energy in the main transport system in Northern Finland in the long-term with measures, such as selection of transport mode and development of the transport system and traffic network. The present state of energy transport and development in 1981 - 2000 was also studied from the point of view of northern Finland. (TRRL)
