MODELLING INTER-URBAN FREIGHT MODE CHOICE
This paper examines two conceptually different models of inter-urban freight movement, the logit and the elimination-by-aspects models. Each model is applied to the choice of road and rail modes for freight movements between urban areas in Australia. Both models are shown to have acceptable behavioural assumptions while the elimination-by-aspects model is found to provide a better explanation of variance in the data. (Author/TRRL)
