USE OF THE FINITE-ELEMENT METHOD IN SOIL MECHANICS, IN THE ELASTO-PLASTIC RANGE
UTILISATION DE LA METHODE DES ELEMENTS FINIS EN MECANIQUE DES SOLS DANS LE DOMAINE DE L'ELASTOPLASTICITE
The advantages offered by the use of the finite element method in calculation of soil behavior are pointed out. An examination was made of the existing models describing the behavior of noncohesive soils. Algorithms have been derived for solving contact problems, coupled with elasto-plasticity of earth mass.
