EVOLUZIONE E PROGRAMMI DELLE FERROVIE FEDERALI SVIZZERE

With a documented examination of the main aspects of the Swiss Federal Railways, a picture is drawn of the evolution in the four-year period 1970-1973, also indicating the development programs in relation to the growing requirements of the transport market. Indicating problems and suggesting solutions, within the framework of the complex contingent national economic situation and of the characteristics of the international transit, the study mentions the prospects arising from the economic and social progress of the country, and from the recent agreement stipulated with the EEC: in particular the generally decided upon tunnel under St. Gotthard, which will provide another important line of communication between North and South Europe, through the Alpine chain.
