HEAVY OIL EXTRACTION UPS FCC FEED AT FIRST THREE-STAGE GRASS ROOTS ROSE UNIT, IN KANSAS
A three-stage grass roots ROSE (residuum oil supercritical extraction) unit has been operated by Pester Refining Co. at its El Dorado, Kan., refinery since January 1981. The ROSE process was developed, and is being licensed, by Kerr-McGee Refining Corp. Briefly, the process produces oils, resins, and high asphaltene pitch from feedstocks ranging from partially topped crude to vacuum-reduced and blown asphalts. (Author)
