VENTILATION OF ROAD TUNNELS COMBINED WITH DUST CLEANING
VENTILASJON AV VEITUNNELER KOMBINERT MED STOEVRENSING
Three tunnels have been built on the Stryne mountain, and in 1983 artificial ventilation will be installed in two of these in order to improve the environment in the tunnels. In that connection it was of interest to record the carbon monoxide, the dust content, and draught conditions in the tunnels, because these parameters are of vital importance for the environment in the tunnels. According to the highway standard specifications in most cases it is visibility which is the governing factor when designing a ventilation system. Evaluation of coefficient of friction loss has been performed for one of the tunnels, based on measurements made in 1982. The object of one part of the project was to evaluate alternative dust cleaning installations for tunnels. (TRRL)
