NOISE FROM ROAD TRAFFIC. MEASUREMENT OF EMISSION FROM TWO DIFFERENT KINDS OF ROAD SURFACINGS

Measurement of noise emission from road traffic has been performed for the following two kinds of surfacings, asphaltic concrete AB22T and simple surface dressing EO16. The results are corrected to a standard reference: 1000 vehicles per hour, 20 percent heavy vehicles and a speed of 80 km per hour. The individual results are averaged on an energy basis, and compared with calculations from the Nordic calculation method for road traffic noise-NBV. The results show that nbv overestimates road traffic noise with 2-3 db(a). The level of emission from EO16 is measured approx 1 db(a) lower than from AB22T. The general road traffic noise range which is the basis of NBV deviates little from the results of these measurements. (TRRL)
