CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT CLAIMS: CAUSES AND METHODS OF SETTLEMENT
This report identifies the main types of highway construction contract claims and describes their causes and the procedures that currently are used for settling them either through negotiated adjustments under the contract or by reference to various forms of adjudication. Procedures and practices of the state highway agencies and the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) regarding participation of federal-aid funds in contract claim awards are also discussed. (Author)
