METHOD OF FINITE ELEMENTS: APPLICATION TO THE CRACKING OF PAVEMENTS AND TO THE CALCULATION OF THE TIME TAKEN FOR CRACKS TO RISE UP TO THE SURFACE
LA METHODE DES ELEMENTS FINIS: APPLICATION A LA FISSURATION DES CHAUSSEES ET AU CALCUL DU TEMPS DE REMONTEE DES FISSURES - 3
The two models presented are two-dimensional, finite element models based on the application of the fracture mechanics to pavements having vertical discontinuities created by transverse shrinkage cracks of courses treated with hydraulic binders. The first model rests on the production of a special fine mesh at the bottom of the crack, while the other uses particular finite elements to schematize the discontinuity of the field of stresses at the bottom of the crack.
