TRAFFIC ACTUATED PROGRAM SELECTION

This paper gives the results of a computer-based comparative study. Different types of traffic-control systems for junctions in a network are compared, viz: a rigid co-ordinated network control system; a flexible control system with traffic actuated co-ordination; a co-ordinated, traffic actuated program selection system. The conclusion was reached that the last one is the best and it was implemented in practice. (TRRL)
