THE USE OF PARKING LOTS IN THE CITY CENTRE OF AMERSFOORT
PARKEERONDERZOEK IN DE AMERSFOORTSE BINNENSTAD
The motive for this research is the parking problem, and in addition the far-reaching proposals for restructuring the parking facilities and the traffic circulation in several Dutch cities, for example in Amersfoort. An issue is the accessibility of the city-centre functions. The research aims therefore at the question whether and in what way total walking distances will be influenced by the distance to the first destination, the parking price and the maximum allowed parking duration. Some of the main results are: household-income does not affect the choice of a parking lot; parking price is of more influence on the total walking distance than maximum allowed parking duration.
