OBVIOUS SOLUTIONS ARE NOT ALWAYS THE BEST

DE MEEST VOOR DE HAND LIGGENDE OPLOSSING IS NIET ALTIJD DE BESTE

In searching for solutions for unsafe locations in the road network road administrations are often confronted with suggestions, wishes or demands from local residents. In many cases communities of interest come forward with a solution for a certain problem before the nature and the proportions of the problem are known. This contribution describes the case of a junction and a solution (traffic-lights) suggested by local residents. At the same time a description is given of a solution without traffic-lights which was used. It appears that this alternative solution has improved the situation very satisfactorily.
