COMPUTER AIDED ROUTE SELECTION: APPLICATION OF GMAPS/GCARS ON RIJKSWEG 32, STEENWIJK - AKKRUM

DE COMPUTER ALS HULPMIDDEL BIJ TRACEGENERATIE; TOEPASSING VAN GMAPS/GCARS OP RIJKSWEG 32, STEENWIJK - AKKRUM

This paper reports the findings of a research project in which a comparison is made between traditional and computer generated highway routes. The question of whether the computer programs GMAPS and GCARS are suited for the search for and selection of feasible routes is answered positively on the basis of the results of the case study Rijksweg 32. The research encompassed a sensitivity analysis of the values used in relation to the location of the generated routes and an attempt to arrive at a generally applicable analysis scheme.
