ROLE OF HEALTH SERVICES IN THE PREVENTION OF TRAFFIC TRAUMA
PREVENTIVNA ULOGA ZDRAVSTVA U PROMETNOM TRAUMATIZMU
The author deals with the prevention of traumatism in road traffic accidents and the role of health services and legal institutions in this. His opinion is that health services should be more active both in the phase preceding the accident and in the period following the accident. A physician should always bear in mind that a patient may also be a driver (and in many cases is) and if certain disorders are observed, which may, according to the law, be considered as contra-indications for driving, he is obliged to act upon the regulations given by the law. When an accident occurs, the accident victim must be given adequate medical assistance at the place of accident and then transported to a medical institution in the shortest possible time. (TRRL)
