ADHAMIYAH BRIDGE, BAGHDAD. PART 1, DESIGN. PART 2, CONSTRUCTION
The paper describes the design and construction Adhamiyah bridge over the River Tigris in Baghdad. Of steel construction acting compositely with a concrete deck, the cable-stayed bridge is the first of this type to be erected in the Middle East. The paper is in two parts: part 1 deals with the evolution of form, design and analysis; part 2 describes the fabrication and erection of the bridge, with particular reference to the problems that have been encountered.
