VARIABLE BEVEL ANGLE FLAME CUTTING TECHNIQUES

As a result of a study which examined the weld connections in the forebody of a tanker, a variable bevel angle flame cutting technique was developed which makes a better weld connection possible while using only a small amount of weld filler material. This new technique concerns providing the flame cutter with angle control. Instead of varying the torch angle, this technique takes advantage of the head rotation. A brief description of how this technique operates, as well as some definite advantages that can result from the utilization of this system, is included in the article.
