SMC PARTS--REPORT ON PROCESSING AND AUTOMATION FOR COST REDUCTION
This paper deals with a basic flow characterisation for SMC materials. A method is shown to calculate flow of SMC in the mold. Cure and flow control is carried out by pressure transducer measurement to optimise flow and to minimise curing time. Consequences for part production are discussed. A lay out for process control is developed. Several devices of an automised production line are shown. A final economy consideration gives a rapid amortisation period and a good pre-tax profitability.
