During the last few decades, developing the ability to discipline employees has become increasingly difficult. The main reasons for that are a failure to properly apply discipline in the past and the emergence of a philosophy which emphasize the rights of the "individual". This article explains why discipline administration is currently so difficult, and reviews some elements necessary for a good discipline program: the rules must be fair, they must be communicated to each employee, and they muct be consistently applied.
