RENEWAL OF THE "ADRIATIC" STATE ROAD NORTH OF ANCONA, ON THE SECTION DAMAGED BY THE LANDSLIDE OF DECEMBER 1982

An illustrated article shows the effects of deformation, swelling and subsidence which destroyed a section of State Road no. 16, near Ancona. The destruction was caused by massive land movement following a week of continuous heavy rain in December 1982. This article describes the reconstruction of the flexible pavement (incorporating non-woven polyester fabric, metal grids and meshes), the renewal of the drainage system, and the retention of slopes by the use of crib walls.
