HOW DO DRIVERS BEHAVE DURING THE FIRST YEARS OF DRIVING? A MODEL FOR DRIVING BEHAVIOUR
HUR FUNGERAR BILFOERARE DE FOERSTA AAREN? EN MODELL FOER FOERARBETEENDE
The aim of this report is to study the behaviour of recently qualified drivers. A model for driver behaviour is discussed in which the driver is tested in two ways. The first test is a perceptual motor one where the driver's skill to process information is studied. In the second test the driver's ability to assess his information processing skill, primarily by regulating the speed in various situations, is examined. Differences between male and female drivers in driving experience and self-assessment are discussed and integrated in the model on the basis of their accident risks. (TRRL)
