ENERGY-IMPACT-ASSESSMENT MODELLING TECHNIQUE FOR THE TRANSPORTATION SECTOR
The application of the Strategic Environmental Assessment System (SEAS) model to alternative transportation energy-conservation scenarios is elaborated by providing greater detail in the transportation sector to form the Transportation Energy Conservation Network (TECNET) System. Patterson uses the TECNET System to analyze six alternative transportation scenarios in the U.S. He shows that indirect energy-saving from conservation strategies do not necessarily follow the same pattern as the direct-energy savings. For example, the largest direct-energy savings for automobiles comes from a scenario that causes an increase in indirect energy use.
