MARKETING RESEARCH INTO CARPOOLING IN THE REGION OF 'S-HERTOGENBOSCH
MARKTONDERZOEK NAAR CARPOOLING IN DE REGIO 'S-HERTOGENBOSCH
A report is presented on a marketing study for carpooling in the region of 'S-Hertogenbosch, the capital of the province of Noord-Brabant in the Netherlands. The main purpose of the study was to see whether there were real possibilities for the setting up of a carpooling system. 322 drivers who were living outside the city but were working in the city were interviewed. The main results were that 17.7% were already participating in some kind of carpooling, 20.4% had previously used carpooling, 8.3% use carpooling sometimes, and 53.1% had not used carpooling before. The demand for carpooling is increasing with the increasing cost of fuel and the decrease in income caused by the economic recession. Environmental aspects, such as the reduction of air pollution and energy conservation play only a minor role.
