EXPLOSIVES - STORAGE, TRANSPORT AND USE, KNOWN AS THE SAA EXPLOSIVES CODE--PART 2: USE OF EXPLOSIVES. COVER TITLE: SAA EXPLOSIVES CODE--PART 2: USE OF EXPLOSIVES

This standard sets out requirements and precautions for the use of factory- made explosives and certain explosives mixed at sites. It does not apply to the following: (A) explosives used in underground coal mines; (B) safety ammunition; or (C) pyrotechnics including fireworks, rockets, fog signals or the like. Sections covered in the standard include: marking; mixing of anfo (ammonium nitrate fuel oil); operations prior to charging; charging; preparation for firing; firing; misfires; disposal of surplus and defective explosives; and special hazards.
