BTE ASSESSMENT OF NIMPAC: PART 1
The Bureau of Transport Economics is proposing to undertake within the general framework of the roads studies program, an economic evaluation of a range of investments in certain road categories comprising the Australian road system. It has been suggested the the NIMPAC model could be used to undertake these evaluations. An outline description of NIMPAC is provided, some possible applications of the model which could be included in the BTE work program are suggested and the logistic implications of running NIMPAC are considered. The NIMPAC computer based model performs cost calculations for maintaining the rural and outer arterial road system (including national highways) according to prescribed standards and investment strategies.
