SELECTED STATISTICS FOR KANSAS HIGHWAYS, RAILROADS, AVIATION AND WATERWAYS

This booklet presents an assortment of transportation data on highways, railroads, aviation and commercial waterways in Kansas. Most of the data included in this report are cross-sectional for calendar year 1982. Time-series data were included in some tables to illustrate the changing structure of the variables. An appendix has been included for those readers who are not familiar with such terms as public roads, functional classifications, arterials, collectors, local roads, road types, and driver license classifications, 1983 H.B. 2566 tax rates, distribution of funds, and transfers. The subjects in this booklet include the following: road miles by functional classification, jurisdiction, surface type, and maintenance responsibility; bridge inventory by funding responsibility and sufficiency ratings; safety accidents, injuries, deaths, and property damage; railroad track mileage, abandonments, and volume of commodities moved on Kansas rail; aviation, airports, enplanement activity, registered aircrafts; commercial waterways, terminals and facilities; road financing, federal-aid and state funds; and miscellaneous data such as monthly consumption of gasoline and gasohol, vehicle registrations, licensed drivers by age, sex, and type, and price indicies. After October 1984, readers are urged to consult updated publications for possible revisions in the data. (Author)
