OPINIONS ON TRAFFIC SAFETY; RESULTS OF A SURVEY

OPVATTINGEN OVER VERKEERSVEILIGHEID; RESULTATEN VAN EEN VERKENNEND ONDERZOEK

A written questionnaire had been sent to 650 persons from 18-65 years of age in the region of Leiden. The questionnaire was used to select those persons to whom a more extended questionnaire was sent on the subject: alcohol use and traffic safety. For the selection two questions were important: (1) a question on the use of alcohol, and (2) a question on driving licence. In this case some other questions regarding traffic safety were added. These questions were on driving too fast, red-light offences, insufficient driver training, driving while intoxicated, bad behaviour of pedestrians and cyclists or moped riders, postponed maintenance of the car, the use of safety belts, and the maximum speeds on motorways. The results of the questionnaire are tabulated. (TRRL)
