HORSE AND TRAFFIC
PAARD EN VERKEER
A working group was set up to give recommendations as regards the use of horses in traffic. The recommendations should be related to (1) traffic education for horseriders and coachmen; (2) the lighting and visibility of horseriders; (3) responsibility, and (4) licence systems and local regulations. The need for a driving licence for riders of horses is stressed. The riders should be treated equally with other road users and police requirements as regards drivers of vehicles, such as breath tests, stop signs, enforcement etc should also be in force for horsemen.
